Galway County Council Archives

The Archives Service is responsible for preserving, acquiring and making accessible the documentary memory of county Galway's local authorities.  It also holds a small quantity of private collections relating to the history and culture of the county.  Public sources include current and now dissolved local government bodies in Galway, for example, Galway County Council, Town Commissioners, Town Councils, Rural District Councils, and Poor Law Unions.

Access Policy: Research is by appointment only to bona fide users.
Opening Hours:   By prior appointment only, between 9.30 am-5pm Mon- Fri (closed 1-2pm)
