The James Hardiman Library Archives holds collections related to a number of areas including Irish Language and Literature collections, academic papers of relevance to NUIG, landed estate papers as well as political, theatre and business collections.

Access And Facilities

Archives can be access in the Special Collections Reading Room at the James Haridman Library, National University of Ireland, Galway. Appointment advisable, photocopying and photography available by arrangement.

Collections
The James Hardiman Library Archives holds collections related to a number of areas including Irish Language and Literature collections, academic papers of relevance to NUIG, landed estate papers as well as political, theatre and business collections.

Academic collections relating to academics and organizations within the college including papers of An Stoc newspapers, 1924-8; out-letter book of professor J.E. Cairns, 1865-7; Papers of Mary O'Donovan, professor of history, 1914-57.

Business collections including legal papers relating to the Clifden-Galway railway.

Irish language collections including items and collections related to the Gaelic revival; manuscripts bequeathed by Douglas Hyde; the papers of Stiophán Bairead and Tadgh Seoige.
