The National Library will be holding an evening lecture series focusing on the themes covered in the exhibition Strangers to Citizens from January to March 2009.
The National Library of Ireland has the largest collection of Yeats manuscripts in the world, and in addition, holds other fascinating Yeats material generously donated by Mrs George Yeats, wife of the poet, and Michael Yeats, the poet's son, over several years.
The Archive Awareness Campaign is an annual event, organised by the Society of Archivists in Ireland and the United Kingdom.
An evening lecture series focusing on the themes covered in the exhibition Strangers to Citizens will take place in the Library from September 2008 – April 2009.
This year the lecture will be delivered on Monday 8 September by Brendan Twomey and is entitled "'The State of Ireland' - Brooking's map and the Dublin of 1728". In addition the first-ever exhibition in Society House will take place during the month of September.
A new collection of Irish foreign policy documents from 1923 to 1932 have been made available free online by the Documents on Irish Foreign Policy project at www.difp.ie
Events are held in many local archive services including open days, exhibitions, workshops, storytelling, screenings, lectures, debates and online image galleries.
