The Irish government Department of Public Expenditure and Reform have published their ‘Public Service Reform Plan’ (17 November 2011) http://per.gov.ie/wp-content/uploads/Public-Service-Reform-pdf.pdf which states that the Department of Arts, Heritage and the Gaeltacht proposes to merge [the] National Archives & the Irish Manuscripts Commission into the National Library while maintaining separate identities.
